The city of Caracas was founded on July 25, 1567, by Diego de Losada, the conqueror. During many years, the city was named Santiago de Leon de Caracas.This beautiful city, Capital of Venezuela, sits on a valley located on Venezuela's northern chain of mountains, at aproximately 1.000 mts., above sea level. This geographical conditions provide our city of an enviable weather. The temperature fluctuates around 27 : C, all year round, offering its inhabitants a mild summer weather 365 days per year. The Metropolitan area of Caracas covers 400 square kilometers of valleys and hills, with an irregular and indefinite shape as a whole being. Surrounding the city is the Protecting Zone, consisting of 84.300 acres of natural areas, creating a very beautiful park which crowns the city.
